Free Friday: PewPew

For this Legally Free Friday, I have an iPhone and iPod Touch game. I just downloaded it myself, so I haven’t had a chance to personally play, but hey it’s free and I’ve heard good things about it. PewPew is a simple vector-based 2D / 3D shooter that features two different gameplay modes reminiscent of corresponding modes in Geometry Wars: Galaxies. The ‘Dodge This’ mode challenges the player to zoom about the playfield, dodging a barrage of enemies. ‘Assault’ mode pits the player against an onslaught of enemies, with the goal of destroying as many as possible in an attempt to stay alive and rack up points. The ‘Dodge This’ mode features one onscreen virtual stick, while ‘Assault’ features dual sticks, one for motion, one for firing. In both modes the playfield pulses to the beat of the trance soundtrack and power-up boxes can be collected for points and shield energy boosts.

Although I haven’t been updating this site lately, I have been at Uncovering Oklahoma. The show has been going rather well for the most part. I would like to be filming segments more often, but we film when we can. On today update I posted a segment from the first episode, which I’ve included below as well. Check it out and the Uncovering Oklahoma site as well for the latest on that project.

April 16th was my 25th Birthday. I went to work early in the morning, where I got with lots of orders all by myself until Tristen showed up late since he thought he had the day off. I got a free lunch for my birthday at one of the places in the food court since it was my birthday. I got off at six and drove to Humble Pie where I met up with my parents and sister for dinner.
Afterwards, I went back to my place for a few hours until I went downtown and meet up with Ali and Whitney in Bricktown at little after ten. Ali took me to the Dueling Piano Lounge, which opened up that day. We got in free since he knew the owner, who I also got to meet up with and talked to him about interviewing him for Uncovering Oklahoma. He agreed and he is looking forward to the show. Then after we hung around there, we went to Rok Bar. Again, Ali got me in free due to his connections. There he introduced me to his friend Lauren who later invited me to join them all Saturday at Citywalk for her birthday. Anyway, I never been to Rok Bar or any dance club for that matter, so I felt a bit awkward, but I loosened up after awhile. I got a couple dances with some hot girl whose name I never caught. As we we leaving, I asked Ali who she was and told me that he had just met her that night too. I didn’t get home until one a.m. Oh, and of course I had to work early, which I actually handled just fine.
As for presents, I only got a blender from my parents, a $25 Visa gift card from my sister, and $20 from my Uncle Tim. I wasn’t expecting much since it seems like everyone is tight on cash, but anyway that was my birthday. I went to places that I’ve never been to before and I’m going to keep trying new things because simply, I want to live.
