Paint

For this week’s Legally Free Friday, I got a creative Windows game. Tag: The Power of Paint is a free, first-person puzzle platformer which focuses on the players’ ability to modify their environment as they see fit, simply by painting it. Enjoy a unique and emergent gameplay experience, as you traverse each highly stylized level, using your endless supply of paint and all the power that comes with it to make your way to the goal.

For the Mac users out there, how about Quinn. Quinn is an arcade-style tetromino puzzle game written and designed specifically for Mac OS X. It features a clean, elegant user interface, beautiful graphics, and smooth, subtle animations for fluid gameplay. Instead of reinventing the game with yet another variation of the rules, the goal of Quinn is to combine the simplicity of the original idea with the genuine Mac experience for perfect user enjoyment.

Well, it’s been awhile, so I’ll start with things I’ve discovered the past few weeks. The big one is how many people care for SoaH. I made a post a few weeks ago asking what people thought of the site and what we should do in the future. It’s inspired me to start updating the site weekly. I’m also going to do a big push on improving the music collection and remix section.

Charmaine recently critiqued the first four chapters of The Crashing of Heaven and Hell. She made some valid points and useful suggestions that I’m going to add to the book. We were supposed to have a discussion back on Monday, but she had to cancel because of some matters with her sister. She did enjoy the book, so I’m glad about that. Still, I can’t help but feel that’s there’s some awkward tension between us. I’m probably just over analyzing.

I guess I’ll wrap up with some quickies. I brought the first two seasons of Dr. Who last Saturday at Buy.com I should get them any day now. In the meantime, I’ve been watching season 2 of Buffy. My sister and her boyfriend broke up (I didn’t care much for him). She’s moved back in with our parents though she’s looking at getting a two-bedroom apartment with one of her friends. I’m rather disappointed by MacWorld. I was really hoping for news about the new OS and iMac, so I would know when I could get a new computer, but none of that information was released. Still, the insider sites say “soon.” Circuit City is going out of business, which is sad to see anyone go down. I’ll have to pick some movies and video games when they go on sale. Still, 34,000 people are out of a job. I’m learning some great advice and tricks to running a strong business with all of these closings. I think that covers everything for the past two weeks.

Discovered Jan 3

This week I discovered some new music. I had recived a $5 mp3 credit for Amazon.com when I brought my GPS. I didn’t have any albums that I wanted to buy, so I looked at this one album by Agua De Annique, which I had one song from a free sampler album I got. On the page it had a “Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought” section and on there was Within Temptation. I actually brought their The Heart Of Everything [US version] album. Every song is enjoyable though my favorites are The Howling, Our Solemn Hour, The Heart Of Everything, and The Cross. It’s worth buying. Yes, I actually pay for music usually through CD or Amazon’s MP3 service. Within Temptation has a few other albums, which I’ll have buy to later.

I also stumbled upon the bands, Epica and After Forever.

Not much of a discovery, but my XBOX 360 is finally on it’s last legs. It works for a bit, freezes up, and then gives me the red rings of death. I also did discover an envelop on my apartment door this week. Inside was a congratulations note that I won the early bird drawing for paying my rent early. It says I get $100 off my next month’s rent, but the notice about the contest said it would be $150. I don’t know if there was some mistake somewhere or maybe I just won second place.

Well, that’s a wrap for my discoveries this week.

Zork

For this week’s Legally Free Friday I present the web game, Zork. It’s a text adventure game where you start out in an open field west of a big white house with a boarded front door. I’m not able to get far in the game, but perhaps you’ll have better luck.

The Plan for 09

It’s a new year so it’s time to talk about my plans for this year. I’m going through a new chapter in my life where everything is new, so that’s kind of my theme for this year. I plan will get a new iMac computer. My computer has been good to me for these past like six or seven years, but it is showing it’s age as everything is loader slower and I can’t play HD movies. It’s a 1 GHZ PowerPC G4 with 512 MB DDR SDRAM running on OS X 10.4 (it did start on 10.2, but I upgraded the OS a few years ago). My next computer will like be 5 times faster, so that’s going to be sweet. I do plan to give my old computer to my sister because it still works. I already have the money set aside in my savings account for it. However, rumors are floating around of a model update on the iMacs and the new OS, 10.6, will be out soon, so I’m going to wait until those things happen. There should be some news at Macworld next week.

Though getting a new computer may not seem like much, it will help when I start filming movies this year. I may even do a web series. I still want to do the video game parody series and a documentary series about neat places in Oklahoma. One goal I will complete: finish my novella, The Crashing of Heaven and Hell, and get it out to publishers or an agent. If the book gets published this year, that will create a whole new set of tasks for me as I’ll work hard to promote it. I would like to get it published and make enough money from it so that I can make movies and maybe even set up a studio to develop shows and games. Okay, the last part is ambiguous, well, actually, everything is quite ambiguous, but I’m going to work toward it. There’s so much I want to do. I just need to stop dreaming and start doing and that’s my plan for this year is to do great things. I guess you could my new years resolution is to doing something so awesome that I get interviewed by someone on TV or radio.

I got a long path to travel this year and along the way I’ll be working on this site and SoaH. I hope you stay for the ride.
