Second Wind

I visited the volunteered ran coffee shop, Second Wind, last Friday to film a segment on it for Uncovering Oklahoma. Watch the video to see volunteer Josh explain Second Wind followed by interviews and clips of Sean Barker, Joe Hopkins, and John Calvin and the Tin Canyon Band. However, as a special treat, I have two full length performances from the show Friday night. Watch Joe Hopkins play “Reaching” and Sean Barker play “Build It Up”.

This friday, I will be at the Holiday Music Jam in Tulsa for Uncovering Oklahoma so next week I’ll have videos from that adventure. Then the week after that I should be done with the sixth episode.

Well, that’s the coolest thing I’ve done recently. I mainly just wanted to share those videos.

Grooving with Robots in the City

It’s been too long, but Episode 5 of my travel show, Uncovering Oklahoma, has been released. In this episode, we visit Kamp’s for Robotic Wednesdays, Groovy’s for some funky times, and Paradise City where they’re not responsible for one night stands. The episode runs at about 15 minutes. If you want to learn about some great places to dance in the city that are outside of the Bricktown area, this episode is for you. By the way, for this episode the bloopers play at the end during the credits.

Not only is Episode 5 finally online, but the Uncovering Oklahoma site sports a glowing new look. Though, it’s what’s on the inside that really matters, right? So there’s also some new content in the Date Guide. I didn’t post that deals section as need deals to have a deals section.

We are already working on our next episode, which is dedicated to the metro’s fashion shops. Sasha is going through a bit of rough patch right now, so will start filming in awhile. We had planned to have a production meeting yesterday, but her father had to go to the ER.

Now, go watch the latest episode, tell your friends about the series (especially if they are rich and want to sponsor my show), and visit some of the places I’ve uncovered for you.

Episode 5 Preview

I am almost done with episode five, “Grooving with Robots in the City,” for Uncovering Oklahoma. We need to record some narration for some of the segments and trim up interviews. In the meantime, here’s the full interview Sasha did over at Groovy’s since a ton of people are waiting to see her in action. We should have the full episode up next week, which we include two more places along with the bloopers.

Today Sasha and I went out to some businesses to promote the show. For the first time, we sported our sweet new name badges I created.

I have also started to write down some bits for a new TV series that I may produce in the future. Nothing more I can say about it since it’s still in the early stages.

A Bit Shaken

Let’s get matters up to speed here. Uncovering Oklahoma has a new co-host, Sasha Denkinska. She’s super great. We’ve done an interview together at Groovy’s for the nightlife episode we’re still working on. I plan to wrap up that episode next week. There is a Halloween guide over at the Uncovering Oklahoma web site which includes an interview we did at Ultimate Terrors. I got some ideas in mind for the Uncovering Oklahoma web site that I’m going to run by the hosts. When I release the fifth episode, the whole site may get a new look and some new sections as we’ll be gunning for a sponsor. Yay! Wish me luck or better yet, tell your friends about the show.

Let’s see, what else. I’ve started work on a new book. It’s actually a non-fiction book. Yeah, I thought I would never write something serious, but hey, I thought I would never be doing the things that I’m currently doing in my life. The book is currently called, My Adventures While Making a Travel Show. As the title implies, it’s about the lessons I’ve learned, people I’ve met, and adventures I’ve had while producing the Uncovering Oklahoma series. One of my recent encounters was with a film crew that travels the country documenting, um, girls that have gone wild. It was a brief, but interesting, encounter. After meeting them, I realized that my crew totally needs name badges (or lanyards as Office Depot calls them), so I’ve created a design. I just need to get photos of everyone and get their thoughts on the ID’s design. I will also make a Film Crew t-shirt for myself that way I’ll have a more official appearance. I got the design made, but again, I want Ali and Sasha’s feedback before it’s finalized.

Now, I’m going to talk about something rather personal that got me a bit shaken up. I stumbled upon one of my ex-girlfriend’s, Carol Anne, on a dating site. We had actually meet online about a year ago on another site. I didn’t recognize her at first until I started reading her profile. I had looked at the pictures first, saw that she was cute and had a TARDIS cake, so I was like, sweet, and then I jumped back to her profile to read about her before sending her a message. When I saw the part about her job, it hit me. It shook me up a bit when I realized it was her. I’ve totally moved on from her obviously, but it was still weird. I am glad she broke up with me because in the whole grand scheme of things, I wouldn’t be the person I am today if we were still together. For starters, I wouldn’t be doing Uncovering Oklahoma and I love making that show. I also wouldn’t have learned the things I’ve learned, I wouldn’t have explored as much as I have in life, and I wouldn’t be as more willing to try new things as I am now.

However, I did drop her a friendly hello and a thank you. I’m not sure if she’ll respond, but I feel a bit better just saying something to her as it had been like a year. I really should also say something to another ex of mine, Kim, but I want to have someone special in my life first. We had a rather rough falling out. I hate having burnt brides around me.

And now for some family news. My Mom went to her cancer treatment center and there were no signs of her cancer. There’s a bunch of other family stuff going on, but it’s all talk right now. My sister recently moved out to her own apartment. About a week ago, some kids broke into her apartment and stole random things that they would grab. As she says, it’s going to be easier to buy her stuff for for Christmas.

Well, anyway, I think I pretty much got everyone up to speed. I’ve transferred to another store for my job. After a rocky start, the change has been working out great for me. It’s really helped with the burnout I’ve been having with work. I also got promoted to Full Time status, which means I now get paid time off.

I have to say, it’s awesome how life has been working out for me.

Conspiracy of Awesome

Tuesday night I went to Mid Town Deli for Open Mic Night again to watch cOnspiracy of Angels perform again. This time I took pictures with my cellphone camera.

COA again

Also, here’s guy playing a kazoo. He was pretty good too.
Kazoo

As I said before, these were taken from my cellphone, so the quality is bad. I tried to get some friends to come along this time, but no one could come. Yeah, so the singer is Jessie. She’s friend of mine and you should go see them and everyone else that plays.

While I was at Mid Town Deli, I ran into an old film friend from college, Clark. It was great catching up him. He now owns a movie production studio, which I plan to visit sometime next week. Fun stuff.

I’m also totally tempted to buy every album by Metric. I did get the free song, Help I’m Alive (Acoustic), from their MySpace page.

On Monday I discovered that I can use Pandora, which I have on my iPod Touch, at work at Penn, using the mall’s wi-fi. It drains my battery, but it played smoothy. I didn’t think the wi-fi would be fast enough to keep up with the music. This is what got me into Metric.

I sent my novel, The Crashing of Heaven and Hell, to an online friend for him to edit. Current Word Count: 28,319.

Charmaine is longer going to be a part of Uncovering Oklahoma. This threw a huge monkey wrench in my plans for the show. I’m still working on pulling it out and getting the show back on track. We are so behind on episodes. Don’t panic, I will pull the wrench out and use it to build a sentry.

Okay, I think I covered everything worth talking about. I did come up with an awesome idea for a club while I was out jogging at Lake Hafner on Monday. It’s too awesome to share here. You will just have to wait until I’m rich and powerful enough to pull it off. Peace!
