The Festival of the Arts
Hey, I got to tell you about my Friday afternoon trip to Oklahoma City’s The Festival of the Arts. It was really neat. The art took up a whole street and there were all sorts of activities and events going on. There were like four stages for live music; one had a children’s choir, the stage in the Myriad Botanical Gardens played a mix of everything, the one in the food court played mainly folk music, and there was a small stage for solo artists. There were some live glass blowing. There were two guys from Canada doing tricks and comedy. One could paint a pot. Drew and Kaci Too from a radio talk show on 98.9 KISS FM where there. There was a children’s art gallery where kids could go inside a tent a buy cheap art. I had lunch while I was there. Man, there was a ton of food choices. I looped around the selection three times trying to make up my mind before settling for a philly cheese stake for lunch. The neat thing was each of the food booths were raising money for different art related groups in the city, so it all went to a good cause.
As for the art itself, there was a mix of everything. Like I said earlier, it did take up a whole street, but it would be cooler if there was even more art that expanded throughout the gardens. Most of the art was for sale. The artists were on show next to their art, so you had to be careful about what you say around a piece of art. Even one artist painting in front of people. I didn’t really personally talk to any of the artists, though I did listen in to some conversations. Here some pictures of some of the art that was on display.

As you can see, there really was a great selection. I spent about, I want to say, three to four hours in the downtown area. After the festival, I decided to walk around the downtown area for a bit. I ate at Sonic for dinner so I could get my parking validated thus free parking. Hehehe. During my walk, I found 3D Horror Ride that wasn’t open at the time. They opened at six and it was like five and I figured I would just save it for another day. So, yeah, I had a lot of fun Friday.
This morning before work, I went yard sale hopping. One place I had been seeing a huge banner for a sale on Saturday turned out to be a huge joke. I did stumble on a large neighbourhood sale. I walked like half to a full mile checking it out. I ended up not buying anything despite seeing a coffee table I kind of liked. After work, I went to Target and Pier One Imports looking at their home decor and then I went home visited Amazon’s selection. Again, not buying anything, but getting ideas.

Yearbook Quotes and TV Last LOLZ
First the big news: I sent off my payoff for my car! Yes, I’m not debt free. Awesome cakes, huh? Now, some more awesome things for my fans. First, I know for many high school will be getting out for summer/ever, so I bring you the Yearbook Quotes collection. No more writing, “have a nice summer.” Next up for business, I bring new You Laugh, You Lose images. This week’s theme, TV Land, features 14 images releated to TV shows. As a bonus, check out these wedding photos. I categorized some images on my hard drive into different themes for future YLYL themes so I don’t do a drought.
As for projects I’m working on, I came up with an idea for a noir style comic that I’m going to try to develop. It would take place after my novella, The Crashing of Heaven and Hell, following the adventures of one of the book’s very minor character. Basically, I’ve been brain storming things I could do to help promote the book. I did recently complete another major revision of the book, fixing mistakes, adding details, and expanding character descriptions. I’m now waiting for some feedback before I take it any further.

I had quite a bit of fun yesterday on my 24th Birthday. I started the day by having breakfast at Carl Jr.’s and got their monster biscuit, which was pretty good. I then went back home and messed around online (noting that I had got my State Tax Return Back then) until I went into the mall at about 1. I had a free birthday lunch at Chick-fil-A. I walked the mall, looking at different stores. I didn’t end up buying anything.
On my way out, I stopped in at work and chatted with everyone since they weren’t busy. There was a bit of an issue at work, which I talked my boss about today. After I told them I was going to go shopping and find stuff for my apartment when I move out. Dana suggested Garden Ridge, and so I went there. I found a few things I liked and I took pictures with my cellphone. I found some rocks I want to put in my bathroom sink; a fake tree for the living room; a small towel holder; a painting that I might to make my own version of since I’m not paying $150 for it; and a bunch of other neat little things here and there. On a side note, I do plan to make paint some abstract art for my place. Again, I didn’t buy anything there.
Afterwards, I meet up with my family and had dinner at Pepperoni Grill. I got my present from my parents, which was a card with a $25 Game Stop, $10 Burger King, and $10 Sonic gift cards. After dinner, I drove to Norman and saw my friend Darren and watched The Mist with Christy. Overall, I had a pretty full day.
On Monday my sister took a two hour drive and I visited our Grandpa Jake at his work. We had Subway for lunch and chatting for about an hour. With money being tight, he appolgized he didn’t have anything to give me for my birthday, which I was fine with. My sister gave me a $25 Game Stop gift card when we got back into town.

I’ve been putting off writing new stuff to this for awhile, so I need to blurt out everything that’s been going on before I forget. I’ll start with the most recent and work my way backwards. I just got through watching Cloverfield. Holy shit, that movie was intense. I watched it on my TV, so I didn’t suffer any motion sickness. I didn’t find the camera work to be too annoying, but at times I did want the camera to look up off the ground. Today was my Mom’s 44th Birthday. We got an ice-cream cake and ate dinner at the Huddle House. It was my first time eating there. I’ll write a simple review for the simple place for it was just a simple and plain place. The prices were good and they give you just the right amount of food and not a ton of food, but it was bland and simple, just you know, basic really.
At work, we have a huge visit coming on Tuesday. We’ve been cleaning and getting ready. Our store is now in a different region, so we have new regional managers coming in. Fun, huh? We’ll working to make sure things go awesome.
I went to my first medieval fair last Saturday in Norman. I was off that day and I had decided to call some friends to see what everyone was doing and I found out about the fair, so I drove up there right away to check it out. It was neat. I caught bits and pieces of all of the different shows that were going on. There were a ton of shops selling stuff. I had brought cash, but I didn’t end up buying anything.
After going to the Medieval Fair, it made me want my own camera so I could take pictures for my blog. I’ll look into getting something nice after my Birthday on the 16th. Well, I’m going to try and calm my nevers some more before heading to bed.
